Chat with strangers.
Skip the small talk.
Meet new people through what they say, not how they look. Reply to a prompt, talk to people nearby, or join a chat room — without revealing who you are.
- No real name or photo needed
- Phone numbers hidden automatically
- No ads
Pick a name and a Hay
No selfie, no phone number. Just how you want to show up.
Reply to someone's prompt
Say something real. Your reply is your hello.
Connect and keep talking
When they accept, you get a private chat of your own.
Reply to a prompt. That's your hello.
Every day you get a fresh set of people, with shared interests first. Each card has a prompt — an unpopular opinion, a 2am thought, a song on repeat. Your reply is the first thing they see.
- New people every day
- Shared interests shown first
- Set a mood for the day
Talk to strangers nearby and make friends.
Turn on Nearby to see people within 25 km. Closer to the centre means closer to you. Tap someone to say hi, or accept a chat request from someone around you.
- Only a rough distance like “1–3 km”, never your location
- Off until you turn it on
- Hide yourself any time
Rooms that never sleep.
Drop into a topic chat room and talk to whoever's around. See who's talking right now, who joined and who left.
- Open to everyone, no invite needed

Connect, then chat privately.
When someone accepts your reply, you're connected and get a one-to-one chat of your own. See when they're online, share photos, and pick up where you left off.
- Photos arrive blurred until you tap
- Location data stripped from every photo
- Private messages delete after 24 hours
Phone numbers and bank details hide themselves.
Haylio spots phone numbers, bank account and card numbers in any chat and hides them before they're sent — and tells you why. Report or block anyone in two taps.
- Repeatedly reported people are muted in rooms
- Optional filter for offensive words
- Blocked people never see you again
No photo needed. No real name either.
Pick a display name and a Hay avatar — that's all a stranger sees. You sign in with Google, but your email is never shown to anyone. Share more only if you want to.
- Your gender stays private unless you show it
- 14 Hay avatars to choose from
- Your account follows you to a new phone

Questions
Is Haylio free?
Yes. Chatting, chat rooms, Nearby and making connections are free. Haylio Premium is an optional subscription for filters and extras, and you can cancel it any time in Google Play.
Do I need to show my face or real name?
No. You choose a display name and an avatar. You sign in with Google so you can keep your account, but other people never see your email or Google account.
Who can see my location?
Nobody. Nearby is off until you turn it on, and even then people only see a rough distance band such as 1–3 km. Your stored area is deleted after 24 hours, or immediately when you turn Nearby off.
What happens to my messages?
Private messages and photos are deleted 24 hours after they're sent. Room messages are deleted after 7 days.
Is it a dating app?
No. Haylio is for talking and making friends. Asking for or sending explicit content gets an account removed. Haylio is for adults aged 18 and over.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings › Account › Delete account and data. Without the app, see our account deletion page. Delete your account →
